Various pads and snubs have been welded on to the backhead of the outer firebox by the coded welder. These are for attaching various fittings such as boiler water level gauges, pressure gauges, steam brake valve, firehole door surround, etc.
The cab front spectacle plate has been temporarily removed in order to use as a template for correctly shaping a length of angle running up the corner of the cab side into the roof. The opportunity is also presented for de-rusting and painting the edge where the spectacle plate meets the roof.
Work on the rear sand pipes is in progress. Once complete we will be moving on to the front ones which also incorporates making a support bracket for each pipe. We also have some support brackets to make for the vacuum and steam heat pipes in the areas under the water tanks.
Many thanks to all who have supported us and we hope you will continue to do so as we progress further towards completion.
